Results of tests undertaken in the surgery are received electronically and reviewed by a doctor on the day the results are received. These will then be annotated with the doctor's instructions as to what action should be taken next. Patients are advised on the probable time taken for results to be processed and asked to then contact reception to find out "next steps". If we receive an abnormal result we will contact the patient direct. It would be helpful if you could ring for results in the afternoons; this will allow the doctor to collate all the results and make decisions on what action is needed.
Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. We will only give results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them. Please let the receptionist know if you are happy for such information to be passed to a third-party.
