Doctors
Dr Justin Hendriksz
Dr. Hendriksz joined as a partner in the practice in 2008. He qualified as a doctor in South Africa before doing an MSc degree at Oxford. He has embraced Cornwall and Lostwithiel in particular as the place to bring up his young family. A keen sportsman he has a natural interest in sports medicine and injuries and carries out the majority of the minor surgery done in the practice. |
Nurses
Mrs Emma Fuller (f)
Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears. Emma is qualified to undertake all the practice nurse services including minor injuries, dressings and child vaccinations. She also runs the cervical cytology service. Emma was a district nurse before joining the practice and has a specialist interest and widespread experience of continence problems. She brings with her a wider "skill-base" to the services we are able to offer to our patients. The receptionist will be able to help you with inquires regarding booking appointments with Emma. |
Mrs Elizabeth King (f)
Lizzy King can prescribe and has had particular responsibility for patients with chronic diseases such as asthma and diabetes who need regular medical input. She has a wealth of experience in helping patients in need of urgent advice and can also provide all the services of a practice nurse with the added qualifications of a nurse practitioner. Lizzy is a nurse prescriber but there is no category in our website software to show this. |

Healthcare Assistants

Claire is well known to patients within the practice area having been part of the community nursing team for many years and since January 2023 has joined the practice as our HCA - she has a range of skills and reception will be happy to advise any patient who is appropriate to be seen by Claire. |
Practice Management
Mrs Rowena J Angell (f)
Mrs Rowena Angell, Dip P&HCA 1986 Rowena joined the Practice as manager in 2012, having joined the NHS in 1972 and as a practice manager in 1985. Returning to Lostwithiel in 2012, she has been involved in all aspects of running the practice, be it ensuring that the right systems are in place at the right time to provide high quality patient care or indeed changing light-bulbs! Since reducing her hours to part-time in 2020, she continues responsibility for clinical audit and quality of information, finances, complaints and compliments, all of which are within her widespread experience. Rowena supports the GPs and staff in delivering the best services possible to all our patients. She was actively involved in the NHS KCCG locality clinical commissioning group and now participates in the Primary Care Network, known as Bosvena & The Three Harbours to further develop patient services for Cornwall. She instigated the quarterly practice newsletter in order to keep patients up-to-date with the surgery services and health information as well as inviting comments and ideas from patients. She now works part-time Tuesdays to Fridays and is very happy to talk to any patient wishing to discuss a problem, concerns or indeed plaudits. As at 31/3/23, Rowena has taken back financial responsibilities now that Alison Howe has retired alongside her husband, Dr. Will Howe |
Amanda Tamblin (f)
Amanda joined the Practice in October 22 to provide full time practice management. She has over 23 years experience of working within the NHS, mainly in secondary care before branching out in GP Practice Management 4 years ago. She is always happy to talk to patients whether to receive positive feedback or to address any issues patients may have. She has a "can do" attitude and will be working hard to support the team in order to offer the best possible care that we can. She has particular responsibility for human resources, staff training and Health & Safety. |

Reception
Ms Maureen McLaughlin Mrs Helen Glover Mrs Jane Bradley Our receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and they are the initial contact point for general inquiries from patients. They provide basic information on services and can direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Our receptionists book the majority of routine patient appointments. In addition, they undertake other important administrative tasks such as the appointment diary, processing new registrations and medical records, dealing with general inquiries, taking messages and helping patients whenever possible. They are trained in issues such as of health and safety, equality and diversity, infection control, information governance and confidentiality, They have a wealth of knowledge and information to be tapped into and can guide patients wherever needed. We are in the process of recruiting two part-time receptionists to join the team. |

Health Visitors
A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing. |
Attached Staff
Attached community stafff can provide district nursing, mental health, cancer/MacMillan and social services (including access to carer support groups) for patients who are housebound. |

Dispensers
Mrs Paula Coleman Miss Anna Davis Our dispensers are fully qualified and attend regular courses throughout each year to update their knowledge and skills. Annual appraisals are also mandatory and these are undertaken by Drs. Howe and Hendriksz. The team has many years' experience and are happy to help with questions patients may have regarding their medications. |
